Chiang Rai is a city in northern Thailand that’s known for its natural beauty and cultural heritage. If you’re looking to explore this vibrant city in just one day, here’s an itinerary that will help you make the most of your time.
Day Schedule
8:00am – Breakfast at a local cafe Coffeenergy. Be sure to try some of the local coffee too, as Chiang Rai is known for its high-quality beans and here serves a great espresso.
9:30am – Visit the Wat Rong Khun The Wat Rong Khun, also known as the White Temple, is a must-see attraction in Chiang Rai. This stunning temple is covered in intricate, gleaming white details and is a true work of art. The temple was designed by local artist, Chiang Rai native, and National Artist, Vorakoj Pongphairoj. Take your time to explore the intricate details and take in the beauty of this unique structure.

11:00am – Take a walk through the Chiang Rai Art and Cultural Park After visiting the White Temple. Then head to the Chiang Rai Art and Cultural Park. The park is home to several impressive sculptures and pieces, all created by local artists. I would suggest after taking a stroll through the gardens and enjoy the beautiful scenery.
12:30pm – Lunch. After spending the morning exploring Chiang Rai’s cultural and artistic attractions. Now it’s time for the best Thai Northern food in Chiang Rai The name of the place is Barrab restaurant, my favorite dishes are the boneless chicken curry and the Tom Yum.
2:00pm – Now I would visit the Chiang Rai Clock Tower one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. This beautiful clock tower is located in the center of the city, and offers a great view of the surrounding area. Take a stroll around the base of the tower.
3:30pm – Visit the Black House Museum Also known as “Baandam Museum”, the Black House Museum is a must-see attraction. For those interested in contemporary art and design like myself. The museum is made up of several buildings, each one filled with a unique collection of artwork and sculptures. I took a tour of the main building, which is home to some of the most impressive pieces in the collection.
5:00pm – Visit the Night Bazaar As the day comes to an end, make your way to the Night Bazaar. Here you can find everything, from traditional Thai handicrafts to local street food. Take your time to browse the stalls and pick up some souvenirs to remember your day in Chiang Rai.
6:30pm – Dinner at Chivit Thamma Da Coffee House, Bistro & Bar . End your day in Chiang Rai with a delicious dinner at my most favorite restaurant for me in CR. I love this well arranged and decorated place. Good food, from northern food to Thai and Western food located on The River.
